A place created by storytellers, for storytellers, Story Studios Australia, previously Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio, was founded in 2019 by screenwriter, producer and educator Dan Nixon and has since become one of Australia’s leading creative writing schools for young and emerging writers. Originally based in Fitzroy North, Story Studios Australia/Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio offers a broad and ever expanding array of programs, events and opportunities for children, tweens, teens and for adults.

Story Studios Australia/Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio relocated late in 2022 to a beautiful new studio in the arts and education cultural hub of Carlton, within the City of Melbourne. We currently have hundreds of young people attending our programs in person every single week, with many more online across Australia. Whilst we work with thousands more each year through holiday programs, school programs and events. As of 2023 our adult programs are also growing in popularity at a rapid rate. 
Story Studios Australia/Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio is led by Dan Nixon together with his wife Hannah Nixon (a speech pathologist with a passion for children’s literature) and co-owners Bonnie McRae and Nina Culley, both also professional storytellers.
